Asteroids are a secondary source of resources and the only way of gaining Exotic Minerals. Finding asteroids requires constructing a Recon Center. Once an asteroid is found it may be visited. Each asteroid will only be accessible for a few Sols unless the Capture Asteroids breakthrough is researched. Asteroids can only support a small number of buildings. Landing on asteroids requires an Asteroid Lander rocket.
Asteroids may always be scanned the cost of 20 Electronics to reveal the exact number of resources and deposits it carries.
Asteroids come in multiple types.

Asteroids may contain deep deposits as well but revealing them requires the Deep Asteroid Mining technology. RC Drillers cannot be used on asteroids. Asteroids may also contain anomalies.
Recon[edit | edit source]
The first asteroid to pass by the colony will be detected when the Recon Center technology is researched but to detect further asteroids a colony will require Recon. Recon can be generated by Recon Center buildings. Multiple Recon Centers reduce the efficiency of all Recon Centers by 10% however. Only up to 3 asteroids may be tracked at once.
Discovering the first asteroid will grant a Micro-G Auto Extractor prefab.
