Domes
Domes are at the heart of the colony, where colonists satisfy all their needs. As such, each dome requires Power, Water and Oxygen in order to be habitable. Each dome has a number of large plots and medium plots. The large plot has enough place for either one large building or 3 medium buildings and a small one. The medium plot has enough space for a medium building or 3 small ones. Most domes also have room for one or two central spires.
A Self-Sufficient Dome construction option is available for the early days of a colony, placing a Basic Dome as well as Oxygen and
Water production and storage buildings. The International Mars Mission Sponsor starts with one as a prefab.
Policy[edit | edit source]
The player can set the policy regarding the inhabiting colonists for each dome individually. This policy refers to the people living there, not working or visiting for services.
Dome Sizes[edit | edit source]
In Green Planet if Mars becomes habitable Domes will no longer need Oxygen and will require 50% less
Power and construction materials. In addition an option will be added to open the dome, removing the glass and replacing the frames with trees.

A slice of Earth on Mars, this Dome increases the Comfort of all Residences within. It also increases the Sanity of its inhabitants every Sol. Comfort (all residences): +25 The Geoscape is a Wonder and thus limited to 1 per colony. |
Underground Domes[edit | edit source]

Underground Domes can only be constructed underground.
Micro-G Habitat[edit | edit source]

Available only with the Below and Beyond DLC enabled. |
Micro-G Habitats can only be constructed on asteroids and are the only type of habitation available there. It cannot contain buildings inside and has the following stats:
- Cost: 7.5
Metal, 10
Polymers, 2
Electronics
- Consumption: 10
Power, 2

Capital City[edit | edit source]

Available only with the Green Planet DLC enabled. |
The Capital City is available only if the Green Planet DLC is installed and requires 95% Atmosphere and 50% Temperature terraforming. If Atmosphere drops below 95% the colonists will start to suffocate. As with wonders, the Capital City can only be built once. It has the following stats:
- Cost: 150
Concrete, 150
Metal
- Consumption: 100
Power, 10
Water
- Maintenance: 10

- Plots: 51 Large, 18 Small, 3 Spire
Passages[edit | edit source]
Passages connect two Domes together and allow colonists living in one to work or use facilities within the other. Domes connected by Passages will have a unified power and life support grid but if there is not enough supply for a Dome for more than a Sol all Passages leading to it will be closed. Colonists will only seek work and services in Domes immediately connected to their home dome and will not traverse more than one passage except when migrating to a new dome. Passages block drone routes unless a
Ramp is built over them. Passage length is limited to 14 hexes (Dome outer edge to Dome outer edge).
Work performance of a colonist is reduced by -10 when not working in home Dome. Services are less effective when they are not in the colonists' home Dome. The Brazil mission sponsor does not have these penalties.
Fractures[edit | edit source]
Each time a Dome is hit by a Meteor it will receive a fracture. Each fracture increases the Oxygen consumption by 1 until it is repaired and requires 5
Polymers to repair regardless of Dome size. Fractures can also be created by certain Story Bits.
Dome Skins[edit | edit source]
There are a few different skins that may be used on the Domes to allow for some variation in style. These skins are purely cosmetic, and have no effect other than appearance.
All Domes except the Geoscape Wonder have two available skins. A third one is included in the Colony Design Set DLC. A fourth skin is exclusive to round Domes and available to players who pre-ordered the game or purchased the Stellaris Dome Set cosmetic DLC.
Any skin on any building or dome that has one, can be changed before the building is place for construction and after is constructed. This can be done by using the hotkeys shown in the UI or the brush icon next to the rename icon in the UI when you have selected the building/decoration/Dome.
