Domes

Domes are at the heart of the colony, where each of colonists live, eat, work and sleep. As such, each dome requires power, water and air in order to be habitable. There are also a great number of buildings that may be placed both inside and outside of the dome in order to support its inhabitants. Each dome has a number of large plots and medium plots. The large plot has enough place for either one large building or 3 medium buildings and a small decoration. The medium plot has enough space for a medium building. Most domes also have room for one or two central spires.

Geoscape Domes, though smaller than a mega dome, provide all inhabitants with +25 sanity every Sol. The dome is a Wonder and thus limited to 1 per colony.

Passages[edit]

Building - Passage.png Passages connect two Domes together and allow colonists living in one to work or use facilities within the other. Domes connected by Passages will have a unified power and life support grid but if there is not enough supply for a Dome for more than a Sol all Passages leading to it will be closed. Colonists will only seek work and services in Domes immediately connected to their home dome and will not traverse more than one passage except when migrating to a new dome.

Work performance and service comfort for residents using a connected Dome is slightly lower, so it is more optimal for a Colonist to use workplaces and services in its own Dome. In Space race the Brazil sponsor avoids this penalty.

Passages block drone routes unless a Building - Passage Ramp.png Ramp is built over them.

Dome Skins[edit]

There are a few different skins that may be used on the Domes to allow for some variation in style. These skins are purely cosmetic, and have no affect other than appearance.

All Domes except the Geoscape Wonder have two available skins. A third one is included in the Colony Design Set DLC. A fourth skin is exclusive to round Domes and available to players who pre-ordered the game or purchased the Stellaris Dome Set cosmetic DLC.
